Our Labaw Donggon is Asleep.

From the Hinilawod Play, Labaw is played by Ewika. We last showed the play in its full length in Dumaguete.

Yes, I’m back… trying to pop out something creative. This time we watch Labaw Donggon sleep… entertaining, right? Remember when I mentioned that I was trying to explore MMA so I could get the feel for this Hinilawod Comic’s fights scenes? That said exploration has lead me into Muay Thai…

I love it! I’m proud to survive each session we have. It’s a beating.

Just thought I’d give it the credit due, as I’ve noticed an improvement in the way the battle scenes are constructed.

Anyway, the image of Labaw Donggon sleeping just makes me want to do the same. One other plan in lieu of that would be to dine at some Filipino-vegetarian-restaurant: (I’m trying to live healthy) a very creative ensemble of local delicacies and a conscience. I’d love that.

Cheers everyone!

  1. hi there, i have recently been introduced to the story of Hinilawod. i am from the Panay island and i am dismayed that this part of our culture is not readily accessible to the common folks.I have yet to read the entire story in Hiligaynon, which is the original language that it was told, right?
I hope you continue your creative endeavor.Your illustrations looks amazing. PS: do you know where i could find a copy of Hinilawod in its entirety? I would like to read it..many thanks/f

  2. It's not something that the schools teach and the play is an effort at educating the masses. Currently, there are books available by F. Landa Jocano and you can read the Hinilawod from these books, too.

A list of books are available here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinilawod

    I hope that helps. :)
